The Challenge

"Life is rough and then you die"...now THAT'S positive thinking! Still, there's truth to that old saying isn't there? Add to this the challenge of being a Christian and having to share your faith or invite people to Church so they can explore the truth claims of Jesus and NOW it gets REALLY tough--right?

Maybe not.

Last Sunday and this coming Sunday at MPC, we're looking at Jesus' teaching on this subject from the gospel of Luke. Also, I just recorded a Pastorpod about John 14:6 and the question of being "narrow minded" by believing what Jesus taught. In all of this, we're NOT saying that being a Christian is easy or that sharing your faith is as natural as falling off the proverbial log. Still, we ARE saying that sometimes we make it a whole lot harder than it needs to be. We're also saying that since Jesus is "all over" this work, if we use his presence and power, our job gets a whole lot easier--and more fun too!

Starting the first Sunday in October, I'll be offering a special class one hour before our service entitled, "Becoming a Contagious Christian." It was originally developed by Bill Hybels as a way to encourage Christians to be true to their calling and share their faith. I think it's more than that. I think it's a basic Christian living study--showing that to be a disciple of Jesus IS to be a "fisher of men" and thus this whole question of how to share what we believe, is critical to our very identity.

Will you join us? I'd love to see that room FULL of people wishing to establish themselves in this basic of basic Christian ethics--evangelism.

Love ya!

In Jesus,
Pastor Joel
