Wow... Another location...Mill Pond Church, a literal "church on wheels," is moving again. We started in my living room, moved to the American Legion Hall in August of 06, then moved to Martin Kellogg Middle School in March of '07, then switched to the Newington Children's Theater in the summer of '08...
...and now, we're Headed to the Sangerbunt German Club right behind our Office Building, 705 N. Mountain Road in Newington. Why move?
Mainly, we want to be together without sacrificing our coffee house "look-and-feel." Our new building isn't ready yet and we'd like to go back to one service for the summer but the Children's Theater just doesn't have enough space to accommodate us. Furthermore, parking is better and we can use it for youth group--a real plus since our Wednesday evening youth and college service is maxing-out the space they've been using as well.
So, in the words of the immortal Willie Nelson, we're, "On the Road Again...." In a way, it reminds me of I Peter 2:11 which calls us "foreigners and pilgrims." We're temporary...ambassadors of another kingdom, a kingdom, "not of this world (see Jn. 18:36)." Maybe, while inconvenient, it's good for us to remember this and not ever get "too comfortable." We're supposed to be a "lean, mean, kingdom-building machine." And, so we are...so we are MPC!
"Operation Lawnboy" a Success
NEWINGTON, CT-- Mill Pond Church conducted "Operation Lawnboy" Sunday, June 7th by mowing, raking, trimming, and cleaning yards at 8 local homes. In cooperation with Newington Human Services, MPC was able to locate residents who were unable to do yardwork and help them for free. More than 18 adults and teens participated in this effort. "It's so inspiring to see the faces of people when we descend upon their overgrown yards like locusts--but good locusts," mused Pastor Joel Rissinger, "We love to show God's love by doing these kinds of things whenever possible."
